Sunday Armoured Combatant Fighter Practice

Spring has sprung.
La Prova dura has Corny fired up and in an good teacher mode.
We have some cool tournaments coming up right here.

If you have ever wanted to do it, there is a big class and heaps of people.

Sunday 3pm, Scout hall, Maason Street Turner ACT.

Basic unarmoured training takes an hour. Stay to watch armoured combat after that, and then we break to the very nice pub, "Debacle" for an ale, snacks and chat.

Dammit. Sounds like a really nice Sunday afternoon.

Maybe someday I'll be able to come along and offer an 'unarmed' as well as 'unarmoured' intro.

When we look at the medieval manuals, the path is learn wrestling, i.e. unarmoured, then learn knives/daggers, then swords, then finally polearms. The principles are the same, just the weapon length is different. Good footwork is good footwork, good movement is good movement...

That is amusing. My understanding is that Hapkido goes the other direction. Starting at longer distances with all the big kicks Korean styles are known for, and then moving progressively closer as a student progresses.

And Debacle is always good :)

Yeah, and you should start at around 5 or 6. I can see why giving 6 year olds polearms is not advised.

Mmm, Debacle :)
