Australia Day Apocalypse @ Cancon

Those who know me for the big geek that I am will be able to interpret my schedule from the title of the post. This text is for everyone else.

For in excess of twenty years the Canberra Gaming Society has run Cancon - one of Australia's biggest wargaming, roleplaying, and collectible card gaming conventions. They hire the Notional tally room and set up hundreds of tables.

I will be running Apocalypse: Warhammer 40k, which is a far future miniature wargame. Played on six foot by four foot (180/120cm) tables with one inch (28mm) painted and sculpted minatures, it lets the people play general for a weekend.

Apocalypse is further specialised - it is the 'large armies and huge creatures' version of the game. 40k mainly has men/aliens and tanks- Apoc has super sized war machines and flyers.

Even if you don't understand, wish me luck - tho I'll be having fun win loose or draw :)

You know it's strange, but whenever I walk by a Games Workshop unit I can't help but remember those days when Warhammer was a boxed set with three slim folios inside and a 25mm figure generally cost 25p...

Chaz is right. If you have avoided knowing so far, all is well, and no further investigation is required. It comes under the heading "Boys are weird, and why do their mates smell so bad?"
